McLean’s publications programs were well represented at the National Scholastic Press Association/Journalism Education Association convention in San Francisco April 12-15.
McLean’s yearbook was awarded fourth place in the Best of Show competition.
McLean High School also received the 2018 First Amendment Press Freedom Award. We were one of only 11 schools nationwide to earn this honor bestowed by the Journalism Education Association, the National Scholastic Press Association, and Quill and Scroll International Honorary Society. The First Amendment Press Freedom Award recognizes private and public high schools that actively support, teach, and protect First Amendment rights and responsibilities of students and teachers, with an emphasis on student-run media where students make all final decisions of content.
In the write-off competitions, four students brought home awards.
